Education has been around for thousands of years and in many, many countries. But in history, it began to change. 1. One of the most famous activists to stand up for quality education for all is Malala Yousafzai. Malala lived in a town in the Swat Valley, Pakistan. Malala's dad started a school for girls, but when the Taliban had banned girls to go to school, Malala was passionate for all her friends and herself to go to school so she spoke publicly to the media, passionately talking about the cause. Her speech was not unheard though, the Taliban soon had her as a target. In October 2012, Malala and her friends were on a school bus, coming home from school. A gunman stepped onto the bus and demanded to know who was Malala. She was then shot on the left side of her head. She woke up 10 days later in Birmingham, England, confused. She was later told by doctors and nurses that she was shot, and about the thousands and thousands of people where praying for her recovery. Malala graduated a few years later from Oxford, one of the most prestigious universities in the world. 2. Now to a not a well known face, Awa Traore a 21 year old grown up in the tiny village of Banzon in Burkina Faso. She had never had any schooling before. When she heard that she could finally have the chance to have some schooling, she took it up and moved 30km away to the city of Bobo-Dioulasso. She has free lodge by working hard and long days helping around the house. And then goes to her literacy classes at 6:30. Despite the challenges of getting a well paid job, she is determined to get a job in in the health field.
